William Byler

William (Bill) H. Byler
1925 - 2020

On the 10th of October 2020, William (Bill) H. Byler, loving husband, and father of two adoring daughters, passed away at the age of 94. Bill was born in 1925 to Clarence Byler and Blanche Highfill Byler in Pawhuska OK. In 1943 he joined the Army Air Corp and served as a navigator of B-17s during WWII. He graduated from Oklahoma State University as a Chemical Engineer and June of 1950 married Helen Den Adel. They celebrated 65 years of marriage before Helen’s passing in 2015. Helen and Bill were members at 1st Presbyterian in Independence MO.

Bill worked in plastics research and development and the family moved often to follow his job, living in Texas, Pennsylvania, and Kansas. Bill had a boundless love of fishing, reading, writing, and t-shirts that embarrassed his wife. In retirement he took up Geology and published several papers on plate tectonics. Bill always had a story, a joke to make you laugh. He was a loving caring man and will be remembered by many for his kindness, smile, and his sense of fun. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife Helen. He is survived by his two daughters Stephanie (Chris) Hope and Beth (Steve) Jordan and two treasured grandchildren Jessi and Sean Jordan, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all those who came across Bill’s path during his lifetime and shared their love and laughter with him along the way, especially Jerry Pullins and Senior Care Homes and all the staff at Wavenly House where Bill spent his final years. Special thanks go to Kansas City Hospice who were so caring at the end of his life. A private family ceremony will be held at Longview Cemetery.
