Virginia Ervin Parker, 88, passed away on September 13, 2016.
Virginia, known as Ginny to those who loved her, was born on June 27, 1928, and was the daughter of May and Ben F. Ervin. She was raised in south Kansas City (Hickman Mills) and graduated from Ruskin High School. She was a graduate of the University of Kansas City (now known as UMKC) and received her Master’s in Library Science from the University of Illinois. She began her library career on a bookmobile in Jackson County and was on the University of Oklahoma faculty. She joined the Port Washington, NY library in 1963 and retired as Assistant Director in 1990. She was happily married for 55 years to husband, Theodore F. Parker and they lived most of their married life in New York.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and brother, Ben F. Ervin. She leaves nieces Ellen Ervin and Kathryn Moore, great nieces and cousins.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17th at 2:00 pm at the Noland Cemetery, her family cemetery, 9800 Lane Avenue, Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Lee’s Summit Christian Church.
