Thurman “Charlie” Scott, 75, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on December 7, 2017 at home.
Thurman was born July 31, 1942 in Mt. Ida, Arkansas to Edgar and Dotha Scott. Thurman worked at Ford for 34 years, where he earned the nickname of Charlie. He owned and ran 2 BBQ restaurants, aptly named Charlie’s BBQ. Charlie had a love for racing of all kinds, whether participating or watching. He enjoyed camping, primarily at Smithville Lake.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Teresa Scott; his son, Curtis Scott; his daughter, Tracie Swope; his son, Jeffery Scott; his daughter, Daphne Scott; his brother, Johnny Scott; and his sister, Hazel Cox. He is survived by his wife, Verna; his children: Tracy (Robert) Fenner and Andrea Scott; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sister, Venola Bennet.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Longview Funeral Home & Cemetery, 12700 S Raytown Rd, KCMO 64149 on Wednesday, December 13th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A private inurnment will take place in Longview Cemetery.
