Theodore "Priest Ted" Goeckeler, Jr., 71, passed away November 12, 2011 at his home, surrounded by family. He was a lifelong Kansas City resident and member of the New Apostolic Church, where he served as a Priest from 1976 to 2004. He was a 1958 graduate of Westport High School and was a retired Ironworker from the Ironworker's Local Union #10.
Ted is survived by his wife of 49 years, Virginia (Long), children Kathleen Inness (Kevin) of Kansas City, Theodore III of Kansas City, Douglas (Tracey) of North Sioux City, SD, grandchildren Heather, Darrell, and Trina, brother Fred Goeckeler of Pittsburg, PA, and sisters Clara Poole (Bob) of Raytown, MO and Darlene Norman (Bill) of Overland Park, KS.
Ted was a devoted servant of the Lord from his ordination as Sub-Deacon in 1962 until his death. He was a Sunday School and Youth teacher, and he traveled extensively as a minister to scattered members throughout the Midwest.
A memorial service will be held at 8:00 pm Thursday, November 17, 2011 where he served at the New Apostolic Church, 8243 Spring Valley Rd, Raytown, MO, with visitation from 7:00 to 8:00 and fellowship thereafter. Contributions to the New Apostolic Church Youth Fund are requested in lieu of flowers.
