Sheila Ann Bond Carvan, 69, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Sunday, January 9th, 2011. Sheila attended St. Francis Xavier Grade School, Loretta Academy High School and earned her Registered Nurse certification from Providence Hospital School of Nursing. For most of her professional career, Sheila was employed by Menorah Hospital and Baptist Memorial Hospital. She had a great interest in the welfare of all animals, especially Great Dane dogs and Tennessee Walker horses. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 48 years, Michael J. Carvan, Jr.; her daughter Mary E. Grosvenor; her son Michael J. Carvan, III; her son Matthew R. Carvan; her son Paul D. Carvan; her nine grandchildren; her one great-grandchild; and her horses, dogs and cats.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 12th, from 6-8pm at Newcomer’s Longview Funeral Home and Cemetery, 12700 S. Raytown Rd., Kansas City, MO, 64149. The Rosary will be said at 7:00pm. The funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday, January 13th, 10:00am, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2700 E. Mechanic, Harrisonville, MO, 64149. Burial will follow at 1:00pm at Newcomer’s Longview Funeral Home and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The Humane Society of the United States, 2100 L Street, Washington, D.C., 20037 or to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
