Ruby Watkins

August 20, 1928 — December 10, 2022

Ruby Maxine Watkins, 94, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully on December 10, 2022 at her residence. Maxine was born on August 20, 1928, in Bourbon County, Kansas to Wayne Geiger and Pearl Wright Geiger.

Maxine met the love of her life Willis T. Watkins, in High School and they were lovingly married for 75 years. They were blessed with 3 children from their union; Patricia, Gary, and Sharon. Maxine was an amazing mother and loved her family more than anything. She especially loved celebrating Christmas and other holidays with her family.  She and Willis were active in their church with Willis working on maintenance projects and singing in the choir and Maxine working wherever needed from luncheons to bible study. While raising her family, she worked as the library clerk in an elementary school library. She loved to read and spread the joys of reading to the school children, her children and her grandchildren.

Maxine loved to collect and loved going to craft shows. She had a wonderful and extensive collection of Santa Clauses, Precious Moments, and Cherished Teddy’s. She filled her house with all of the treasures she found along her journey. Her family always knew what to get her for a gift to grow her collections.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents Wayne Geiger and Pearl (Wright) Geiger, grandson Jeremy Moore, and her sister Wanda Wilson. She is survived by her Husband of 75 years Willis T. Watkins, children Patricia Valentine, Gary (Dorothy) Watkins, and Sharon (Jeff) Bryant, grandchildren Matthew (Alyssa) Moore, Christopher (Danny) Moore, Michelle (Chad) Gentsch, Donna (Dan) McCague, Andrew Watkins, Christine (Danny) Spader, and great grandchildren Ava Gentsch, Zoe Gentsch, Sammy Spader, Ben Spader, Kennedy McCague and Jeffrey McCague. She is also survived by her sister Arleen Wilson and brother Frank (Pat) Geiger.  Maxine will be truly missed by many extended family and friends who were blessed to know her.
