Roy Vernon Downing of Grandview, Missouri passed away September 29, 2008 at Kansas City Hospice House. He was born March 30, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri and lived in Granite City, Illinois with his parents Robert and Blanche Downing. When the family bought the White Gate Farm in Patton, MO he met and married Geneva Seabaugh on October 21, 1950. They had three children; Pamela, and twins Gary and Terry. In 1962 the family moved from Granite City to Grandview. Roy?s career with Manley, Inc. brought him the title of the ?Popcorn Man.? He loved to travel throughout the United States both with his job and for pleasure with his family. Survivors include his wife Geneva of 57 years, daughter Pamela Pinkerton and her husband Michael of Grandview, son Gary of Plainfield, Illinois and son Terry of Raymore, MO. He is survived by two grandchildren, Sean and Allison Pinkerton of Grandview. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Research Hospital Heart Clinic for their years of care and kindness. All his family and friends will miss and remember his strength, determination, and wonderful sense of humor. He had a great faith in God and served in many capacities as the Board President for the Belvidere United Methodist Church.
