Mr. Robert Wilcox

June 16, 1930 — October 8, 2007

Robert M. "Robbie" Wilcox, 77, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on October 8, 2007. Robert was born June 16, 1930 in Independence, MO to Roy and Bea Wilcox. An area resident throughout his life, Robert married Patricia Dean Ramsey in 1950, and together they raised three children in Kansas City. Mr. Wilcox was a veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Following his military service, Robert began a lengthy cinematography career which took him to movie sets around the vorld. He worked for 30 years at the Calvin Company in Kansas City, where he started as a gaffer. He advanced to film motion picture cameraman, and also directed the company's special effects department. Later, Robert started a long and successful career as a freelance video cameraman. A professional drummer since age 16, Robbie's lifelong passion was his music. He played in several bands in the Kansas City area, including the Warren Durrett Orchestra and Tony DiPardo's Kansas City Chiefs Zing Band. For the past several years, Robbie performed with the Spirit of Independence Concert Band and the Raytown Ramblers Dixieland Band. Robbie also started a woodcarving hobby many years ago, producing nearly a hundred caricature figures, for which he won dozens of awards. Mr. Wilcox was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his twin brother Roy and his daughter Sherri. Robbie will be dearly missed by Pat, his loving wife of 57 years. "Dad" will always be remembered with love by his daughter Bev Hughes and her husband Jerry, and by his son Craig and his wife Sheila. His grandchildren Sandi, Kristi, Shana, Matt, Nikki and great-grandchildren Heidi, Connor and Camille will miss their "Grandpa" and "Bawpaw" very, very much. We all lovingly wish Robbie an eternity of peace--and great music.
