Robert (Bob) Allen Oren of Lee’s Summit, MO left to his final resting place on March 15, 2020. Born to Rex and Fay Oren of Trenton, MO on April 11, 1930, Robert leaves behind his wife of nearly 65 years, Norma Horany Oren and his 6 children, Cindy, Robert, Neda, Thomas, Amanda, and Kathryn, their spouses and 7 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one son, Andrew.
Bob attended Trenton High School in Trenton, MO followed by Trenton Jr. College. He enrolled in the US Air Force and was stationed in Lakenheath, England during the Korean War. He played for the base basketball team becoming Air Force European Champions in 1952. Upon return discharge from the service, Bob met Norma and married in 1955. He moved to Missouri and attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville obtaining degrees in both Business & Economics.
After having 7 children and spending many years as a farmer/cattleman, Bob moved his family to Blanco, TX where his children attended Blanco High School. He became a part of the community by taking the presidency of the All Sports Booster Club and transforming it into a vital organization for Blanco Schools. Later, he joined the Amateur Athletic Union as a track and field official. He spent 30 years in the organization, often as head official of the National Junior Olympics.
Bob had many friends in the Blanco community and was well known and liked by so many. With declining health, he moved last year to be with his children in the Lee’s Summit, MO area. His family plans to hold a memorial this summer (TBD) in Texas so that his friends and many family members can honor his memory.
