Robert Roland Callaway, 87, of Belton, Missouri died at 12:10 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2016 in the Kansas City Hospice House.
Born December 22, 1928 in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Earl and Verna (Buxton) Callaway. He married Bonnie Jeanne Daugherty on February 12, 1949 in Burlington.
Robert (Bob) worked as a proud union member of the International Operating Engineers for many years before moving into management on numerous construction projects, most of the midwest and western states before retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, a dedicated Shriner and a member E. C. Blackmar Chapter of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed fishing, making knives for family members and spending time with his family watching his grandchildren grow.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Jeanne Callaway of Belton, Missouri; two daughters, Vicki Swore and her husband Michael of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Pam Delwisch and her husband, Clint of Belton, Missouri; five grandchildren; six step grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren and three step great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The graveside memorial funeral service for Mr. Callaway will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25th at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery, Burlington, IA, with the Rev. David Mixon officiating.
