Ray L. Tye, 73, of Lee?s Summit, Mo., died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, Feb. 18 at the Kansas City Hospice House.
Ray was born on May 2, 1934, to Ray Leo and Anna (Strasser) Tye in Erie, Kan. For 49 years, he shared his life with Beverly Jean Jones. They married July 19, 1958, and she survives of the home.
Ray was member of the United States Navy SEABEES unit from 1953-57. He was also a member of the Kansas City Police Department for six years. From 1963-1975 he worked for Sears. He was an independent business owner in the Lee?s Summit area from 1975- 1990. He finished his career with Ryder System, Powell Gardens and John Knox Village.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his children, Mike; Leigh Tegenkamp and husband Craig; Robert and wife Holly; Daniel and wife Teresa all of Lee?s Summit; nine grandchildren, two brothers, Francis and his wife Ermeen of Lee?s Summit; Arnold of Wichita, KS, cousins, and many friends.
