Ralph W. Dixon, 87, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away on July 3, 2019 at Addington Place in Lee’s Summit, following a courageous battle with dementia.

Ralph was born on January 14, 1932 to David and Louise Dixon in Morristown, New Jersey. He graduated from high school in Hide Park, Vermont in 1951. After high school, he joined the Air Force and served 4 years during the Korean War. He furthered his education by attending Kansas State Teachers College and Emporia State University, receiving a Bachelors of Science and a Master’s in Education. During his teaching career, Ralph taught at Louisburg High School, Paola High School, and Ft. Scott Community College. He was a member of the KS Teacher’s Association and National Teacher’s Association. He was a member of Louisburg First United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed serving in various positions. He also was a member of the Louisburg Council of the Arts and the board of the Agape Christian Center, serving as Director of the Food Pantry. Ralph was a member of The Summit United Methodist Church and a member of Growth Group. Dolly, his furry friend, gave him unconditional love. Ralph enjoyed fishing, camping, and travel, of which included a mission trip to Brazil and a trip to the Holy Land. Photography was also a hobby of Ralph’s that he learned and practiced during his military career. Ralph will be missed by all those who knew him.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, David and Louise Dixon; his step-mother, Annie Dixon; and his first wife, Hazel Dixon. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Thille) Dixon of the home; his son, Michael (Julie) Dixon; his daughter, Kimberly Dixon; his step-daughter, Ruthann (Brad) Zentner; his grandsons, Blake Dixon and William Weddington; his step-grandchildren: McKenzie Marston, Hunter and Piper Zentner; and great-grandchildren: Bailee Dixon, Piper and Foster Weddington.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 22nd at 11:00 am at Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church, 3381 NW Chipman Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO 64081, with a visitation one hour prior at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Harvester’s and/or Alzheimer’s Research.
