**Patricia Jean Hay (née Herlache)**

Patricia Jean Hay, born on May 8, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, in Grandview, Missouri.
The eldest of five siblings, Pat was the beloved daughter of Henry and Irene Herlache. From a young age, she exhibited a passion for learning and an insatiable curiosity about the world. During her senior year at Kelvyn Park High School, Patricia was recognized as “Most Versatile,” reflecting her active involvement in a variety of activities including co-editor of the school newspaper, swim club, theater participant, and singing in the choir. She graduated among the top ten in her class and was a proud member of the National Honor Society.
Pat’s life was deeply rooted in her unwavering faith and devotion to Jesus Christ. She shared her faith with countless individuals. Her love for God shaped every aspect of her life and inspired her commitment to serving others. She was a gracious giver and friend. Through various ministries, her personal outreach, and role as a lay counselor at her church—Pat ministered God’s love and truth, bringing healing, guidance, and encouragement to those around her. A dedicated student of scripture, she participated in and led numerous Bible studies over the years, including Community Bible Study, Bible Study Fellowship, and Precepts.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Carol Gravdahl; her brother Mark Herlache; and Roger Hoffman Hay, her devoted husband of over 65 years. She is lovingly remembered by her children Susan Ladish (Chris), Sandra Hay, Sharon Holderbaum (Brett), and Catherine Mills (Robert); seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings Tom Herlache and Jacquie Israel; nieces and nephews, as well as many others who affectionately called her “mom” or friend.
Patricia’s legacy of faith and love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace.
