Norma Brown

Norma Jean Brown passed away on June 11, 2013. Norma was the loving mother of Kimberly Rhoades Darnell and Bill Rhoades and beloved sister of Ronald Trayford. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry F. Brown and her parents Pete and Ruth Trayford. Her career at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant spanned 37 years where she began as a telephone operator and retired as the first woman area supervisor there. She lived life to the fullest and did so with a kind and generous heart and soul who will be missed by her many friends and family. She spent the last year of her life with her beloved cat Elijah while enjoying and loving the people and staff at Villages of Jackson Creek. She leaves here her daughter Kimberly Rhoades Darnell, her son Bill Rhoades and wife Susan, her brother Ronald Trayford and his wife Lois Trayford, nieces and nephews Melinda Trayford, Michelle Meyer and her husband Devere, Marvin Trayford and wife Cheryl, and Michael Trayford Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, June 14 at D.W. Newcomers Longview Funeral Home at 12700 S. Raytown Road. Funeral Service 11:00a.m. Saturday, June 15 at Newcomer's Longview Funeral Home. Interment at Mt. Moriah Cemetery at 105th and Holmes. If you choose you may, in lieu of flowers, make a donation to The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City.
