The Lord called Nancy home on Dec. 4, 2010 to spend Christmas in Heaven with her son Dakota. Nancy was born August 9, 1968. She graduated from Grandview High School and attended Avila College earning a B.A. in Arts education. She went on to Mid-America Nazarene College where she earned her Masters Degree. Her love of teaching began when she was nine and started working with her Aunt Con, helping kids learn to swim. She continued this summer job through college. Nancy’s art teaching career began in 1990 at Peculiar Elementary. Her career continued in the Blue Valley School District at Oak Hill Elementary. Her final teaching assignment was in the Lee’s Summit School District at Summit Lakes and Bernard Campbell Middle Schools. Over the last 20 years, Nancy was highly respected by students and staff for her dedication to education. She received the Lee’s Summit Excellence in Teaching Award in 2009. While at Blue Valley, she was named Kansas Art Teacher of the Year for Special Needs Students. She wrote several articles that were published in various art education periodicals. Nancy was preceded in death by her son, Dakota and grandparents Millie & Carl Corriston. She leaves behind a daughter, Tanner Kremeier, mother Dottie Scott & husband Frank, father Richard Pickren & wife Collen, brother Rick Pickren & wife Honey, nephews Kylan & Baby Jentzen, Larry Kremeier and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. We will miss her beautiful smile, wonderful humor, loving heart and courageous strength. Visitation will be held Wed., (12/8) from 6 -9:00 pm at Bernard Campbell Middle School (1201 NE Colbern Rd. Lee’s Summit, Mo. 64086). Memorial Mass will be at 10:00am, Thurs., (12-9), at Coronation Catholic Church, Grandview.
