Mike McIlroy

Henry Michael McIlroy, affectionately known as Mike, was born on March 25, 1940, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He left this world peacefully on March 4, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Mike graduated with a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of Missouri. A testament to his dedication to learning and growth. Throughout his life, he was known for his great sense of humor, kindness, and gentle-hearted nature. He had a profound love for adventure, exemplified by his passion for hiking in Arizona and traveling, especially to England.

Throughout his 63 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Carol McIlroy, Mike was a devoted husband and father. His family remarked that towards the end the only way to get him to shave his face was to reward him with a kiss from Carol. His family was the center of his universe, and he was deeply involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren. Family beach trips were among the many cherished memories that the McIlroy family holds dear.

In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by his sons Michael McIlroy (Julie) and Bruce McIlroy; his daughter Margaret Helm (Kevin); as well as his grandchildren Tyler McIlroy (Katie), Melanie Cole (Matthew), Kelsey Adams (Clark), Ashley McIlroy, Kyle Helm, Megan McIlroy, Katherine Helm, and Jack Helm. Mike also took immense pride in being a grandfather to his great-grandchildren: Juniper Cole, Claire McIlroy, Harper McIlroy, Delilah Cole, Roman Adams, and one more on the way. Mike is survived by all those listed above as well as many other lifelong friends and family members.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Lytell and Nola McIlroy, whose love and guidance paved the way for the man he became.

To honor & celebrate Mike’s life ,a service will be held on March 15, 2025. A visitation at 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with service following at 11:00 at Lee's Summit Community Church, located at 1440 SW Jefferson St, Lee's Summit, MO64081.

In remembering Henry Michael McIlroy, we celebrate a man whose proudest accomplishments were his faith & relationship with Jesus Christ and the love he cultivated within his family. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he loved so dearly.
