Michele Preisinger

December 26, 1949 — October 14, 2022

Michele Marie Preisinger entered into eternal rest October 14, 2022, with her family at her side.

Michele was born December 26, 1949, in Leader Saskatchewan, Canada to Reverend Edgar and Jane Priess. Following God’s call on their lives, the young Priess family served congregations in Ortonville, Minnesota, Cody, Wyoming, and finally Norborne, Missouri, where Michele graduated from high school.

Michele attended two years at St. Paul’s College before earning her Nursing Diploma from Lutheran Hospital in St. Louis. It was in St. Louis where she met Paul Preisinger, a Concordia Seminary student. The two were wed on December 17, 1972.

Upon graduation from Seminary, Paul’s pastoral calls took his young family to a dual parish in Minnesota. He served at Zion Lutheran Church in Warren and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Radium.  The family moved to Redeemer Lutheran in Chico California, Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Lees Summit, Missouri. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Michele served faithfully alongside her husband, supporting him and their churches in any and every way needed. While in Minnesota, Michele worked at a nursing home where she developed a special love for the elderly. In California, she studied floral arranging. Michele began writing for The Excelsior Spring Standard revealing to many her natural gift with words. In Lees Summit, Michele was a beloved teacher at St. Matthew’s Preschool for nine years. After retiring from the preschool, she could often be found volunteering at the VA thrift store in Leavenworth near Bonner Springs. Michele’s countless talents were matched only by the willingness with which she shared them. She filled her days serving those around her, whether family or friends, never knowing a stranger.

Of all her accomplishments, Michele was most proud of her role as a mother. She and Paul were blessed with three children, Matthew, Paulette, and Peter. Matthew was born in St. Louis and lived only a few hours before his call to glory. Paulette was born in Minnesota and Peter in California. Michele was devoted mother giving rides, feeding countless teens, and often found cheering at a sporting event.

Michele’s loving kindness, Godly wisdom, and servant heart will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Michele was preceded in death by her infant son Matthew, her husband Paul, and both her parents.

Michele is survived by her daughter Paulette (Shannon) Blunt and grandson Nick, son Peter (Kylie) and granddaughters Caroline and Miriam, sister Barb (Steve) Ewert, brother Dennis (Diane) Priess, brother and sister-in-law Mark (Joanne) Preisinger, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held October 29 from 10:00-11:00 with a funeral service immediately following at Trinity Lutheran Church (5601 West 62nd Street, Mission, KS).
