Mrs. Mary "Peewee" Chavez
January 23, 1948 — July 22, 2011
Mary “Peewee” R. Chavez, née DuBois, of Grandview, MO and formerly of Grants, NM, aged 63, passed away Fri., July 22, 2011 at Truman Medical Center after a brief illness. Rosary will be said at 6:00 P.M., Tues., July 26th at Newcomer’s Longview Funeral Home with visitation from 6:30 – 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Wed., July 27th at St. Matthew Apostle Catholic Church, 8001 Longview Rd., Kansas City, MO 64134. Burial in Longview Memorial Gardens.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Rosalia DuBois, née Martinez and Pablo Candelaria DuBois; sisters Velma Murrietta and Corrina Gurule, née Murrietta; nephews Ruben Murrietta, Verle Murrietta, Abel Murrietta and Michael Gurule.
Mary is survived by her husband Jose Chavez; daughter Andrea Aarons, née DuBois; granddaughters Adrianna Aarons and Allison Aarons; brother Horacio “Odie” Murrietta, of Grants, NM; sister Teresa Marquez, née DuBois; niece Angela Murrietta and partner Richard Chavez of Socorro, NM; niece Evelyn Contreras, née Murrietta and husband Robert Contreras of Socorro, NM; nieces Rosa Murrietta Armijo, Helen Gurule, Lorraine Gurule, Pauline Gurule and Barbara Gurule all of Grants, NM ; niece Camille Marquez and husband Shannon Vodry; nephews Brian “Moose” Murrietta of Grants, NM, Abel Gurule, Guy Marquez and Chris Marquez;…and an innumerable amount of family and friends whose lives she affected positively by providing a welcoming, loving home, delicious food, a considerate ear, encouraging advice and seemingly endless forgiveness.
