Madge Berkebile

August 3, 1930 — January 20, 2015

Madge Lou (Baker) Berkebile , 84 years old went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on January 20, 2015 at 9:33 am at Point Lookout Nursing Facility in Hollister, Missouri where she resided the last 15 months.
Born August 3, 1930 in Macon County, Missouri to Harold and Josie (Collins) Baker. She graduated from Shelbina High School then met  and married the love of her life, James(Jim) Berkebile Jr. July 1, 1949.They  lived most of their married life in Kansas City, Missouri. They celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary last July. They are members of Sterling Acres Baptist Church. Three children, Phil, Patty and Randy were born to them.
Madge was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. She loved to laugh and was a teacher of strong morals. Jim and Madge loved to travel.
Madge became a Licensed Practical Nurse the same year her daughter Patty became a Registered Nurse in 1977.She worked at Truman Medical Center until she retired.
Madge made every Holiday very special for her family and was a great cook.
Her favorite scripture was John 3:16. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that who so ever believed in Him would not perish but have everlasting life."
Survivors include two sons, Phillip Alan Berkebile of Columbus, Ohio, Dennis Randall(Angela) Berkebile of Lincoln Nebraska; one daughter, Patricia Dawn Blesse of Harrison, Arkansas; four grandsons, Aaron (Skyla) Berkebile of Kansas City, Missouri, Michael Blesse of Hollister, Missouri Gabe (Alex) Berkebile, Ethan Berkebile all of Lincoln, Nebraska; two granddaughters, Kaley Blesse of Branson, Missouri, Abbey Berkebile of Iowa City, Iowa. Three great grandchildren Bryan Berkebile and Angel Berkebile of Kansas City, Missouri and Madison Berkebile of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Other survivors include dearly loved sister Madelyn (James) Carroll of Carthage, Missouri; nieces Connie(Ron) Winter of Mexico, Cindy(Ken) Baucum of Tulsa, Oklahoma, nephew Roy Carroll of Hannibal, Missouri and a multitude of great nieces, nephews and friends
Madge was preceded in death by parents Harold and Josie Baker and nephew Gary Carroll.
Services will be held Saturday January 24, 2015 with visitation at 10 AM followed by Celebration of Life Service at 11 AM at Longview Funeral Home, 12700 Raytown Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64149. Burial to follow in Longview Cemetery. With Pastor Welby Jones presiding. Family and friends welcome.
