Ed Thomas, 76, of Grandview, MO, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2024. He was born in Independence, MO, in 1947 to Donald B. Thomas, Sr. and Margaret G. Ross. Ed was raised on a farm with his three sisters and brother. After high school, Ed pledged his services to the United States Army. While stationed in Thailand, he met his beloved wife, Noi. After fulfilling his duty to the Army, Ed and Noi started a life together and welcomed two daughters, Kim and Teresa.
Ed's main passion was his family. He spent 55 years with his beloved wife, Noi. He loved family Sundays, when we would all gather. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply. He shared a special relationship and bond with each and every one of us. He loved their two Chihuahuas, Jasmine and Jojo. He was a hero to his family. If you needed him for any reason, he was there. He was happy to lend a helping hand, provide advice, or just give a shoulder to cry on. He was always there - always. He will be missed by his family forever. We are blessed to have known him, and we take comfort in knowing he has gone home to the Lord.
Ed retired from Ford Motor Company in Claycomo, MO, after many years of hard work. He lived a full life. He loved to fish in the oceans, lakes, and streams. There were no fish he couldn't catch. His fishing buddies called him 'Fast Eddie'. He was the first one to arrive and the first one to catch his limit. He could fillet a fish with ease and precision. The fillet was perfect every time. He could repair anything and had a stubborn streak a mile long.
He enjoyed going to the casino with his friend Gary and having meaningful conversations with his 'cuz' Mary, as he would call her. He enjoyed NASCAR, with the exception of Kyle Busch. He liked football, both college and professional, and had a lot of fun rooting for the Chiefs. He was a fan of professional wrestling for over 40 years. He liked to hunt with his brother Donald in his younger days and his lifelong friend Dave Rash as he got older.
His jokes, sense of humor, and orneriness will be missed by many. May he rest in peace in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ed is survived by his two daughters, Kim Thomas and Teresa West; four grandchildren: Alexis McNealey, Skylar Grantham, Luke Smith, and Coby Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Ava Tyson and Aaron McNealey III.
