Lois Mae ‘Sheri’ Meyers, 83, of Grandview, MO, passed away on January 17, 2019 at Kansas City Hospice House.
Lois was a Valentine baby, born February 14, 1935 in Taos, NM to Lewis A. Armstrong and Mary E. Branson, who raised their 5 children on a farm in Cedaredge, CO. In 1952, Lois and 2 friends traveled first to San Diego, then east until their savings ran out in Kansas City. As part of their adventure each chose a nickname. Lois introduced herself as Sheri and used that name for most of her adult life. Lois found a job in KC and soon met her future husband, Roy Meyers, on a blind date. Daughter Karen was born in 1956 and Kathy in 1958. Roy’s son Bruce came to live with the family in 1963 at age 15. Their first grandchild Richard was born to Bruce and his wife Jan in 1971. Roy and Lois established Meyers Grandview Real Estate Co. in 1959. The business operated for 55 years until Lois’ retirement in 2014.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Roy, parents Lewis and Mary, brother Elmer, and granddaughter Angela Spallitta. She is survived by son Bruce and spouse Beverly; daughter Karen and spouse Mike; daughter Kathy and partner Mary; four grandsons Richard Meyers and spouse Michel, Nick Spallitta and spouse Lacey, Frank Spallitta and partner Samantha, and Sam Spallitta; three great grandchildren Gracie Meyers, Finley and Nora Spallitta; and siblings Marybelle, Charlie and Gene Armstrong and his spouse Beverly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Longview Funeral Home, 12700 SE Raytown Rd on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with a reception following the service. The family invites you to wear her favorite color purple in honor of her sweet, loving and joyful spirit.
