Lois Lee Mather, 86, of Cass County, MO passed away on June 28, 2020. Lois was born on May 26, 1934, in Kansas City, MO to Foster and Thelma Kelley. After graduating from Southeast High School, Lois attended Kansas City Community College where she met the love of her life, Richard Dean Mather. In 1956, Lois received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Central Missouri. She taught grade school for several years before becoming a stay at home mom and an ardent supporter of her husband's business, Richard Mather Builders, decorating houses and creating window treatments. She enjoyed organizing her high school reunions, volunteering with the Lee's Summit Hospital Auxillary, and other charity and community relations activities for her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi. She loved spending time with her close-knit group of friends, affectionately known as the “six-pack”, and her family. She spent many happy weekends with them at the Lake of the Ozarks and traveling all over America, the Caribbean, and Europe. She loved to cross-stitch; sew; put together puzzles; and collect teapots, pillboxes, bells, thimbles, and more. Lois is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, Richard; and sister, Doris. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her family including sons Brian (Karolyn), and Mark (Kristin) Mather; five grandchildren and many friends. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 2nd at 1:00 pm at Longview Cemetery with a celebration of life to be scheduled at a later date.
