Letah Eagles

December 6, 1943 — April 11, 2018

Letah Kay Eagles, 74, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away on April 11, 2018 at home.

Kay was born December 6, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri at St. Luke’s Hospital to Preston and Josephine Wright. She graduated from Southeast High School and attended Kansas City Community College. She married Dale William Eagles on May 15, 1965.  They lived in Hickman Mills from 1967 – 1990 and then relocated to Lee’s Summit. Kay worked at the University of Kansas Hospital for 46 years. She began her career in 1968 as a Heart-Lung Machine Technician. Her passion, dedication, and enthusiasm were characteristics that were the driving force of advancing her career to Cath Lab Inventory Manager in 2001.

Her hobbies included gardening, where she could spend all day outside and loved all sorts of flowers and plants, and being an avid bird watcher; she was a walking encyclopedia of flowers and birds, as she didn’t need to Google the questions she might be asked. Kay also enjoyed reading mystery novels and loved going to their lake house at Lake of the Ozarks. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her two grandchildren, as she was a proud “YaYa” to 10 year old granddaughter Addison and 23 month old grandson, Emery. Her smile could light up a room and will be forever missed.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Dale William Eagles; 2 sons: Michael Eagles and Scott (Amanda) Eagles; grandchildren: Addison and Emery; her younger sister, Elaine (Denny) Schuler; as well as 4 cousins, 1 niece, 2 nephews, and 8 great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Longview Funeral Home, 12700 S Raytown Rd, Kansas City, MO 64149 on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 5:00 pm, with a visitation one hour prior.
