Leonard S. Francisco, a beloved patriarch and devoted servant of God, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Born on January 6, 1933, Leonard's life was characterized by his unwavering faith, his commitment to family, and his kindness toward others.
Leonard was known for his happy-go-lucky personality, always ready with a smile and never having met a stranger. He spent his life encouraging those around him to strive for their best, uplifting spirits with his warm demeanor. A devoted family man, he treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren and took immense joy in being a part of their lives.
His passions included fishing and bird-watching, where he found peace in nature's beauty. Leonard also had a deep love for music, particularly gospel singing, which he shared with those around him. His vibrant spirit and zest for life touched many hearts, and he was always eager to lend a helping hand, strengthening the bonds of community wherever he went.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Bart and Hessie Francisco; his sister, Rose Mary House; his beloved wife, Gaye Ellen Francisco; and his children, James Patrick Francisco Sr. and Laura Sue Francisco. He is survived by his grandchildren: Larry Engel, Ricky Francisco, Misty Francisco, J.P. Francisco (Carolann), Cheyenne Francisco, and Danielle Francisco; as well as his great-grandchildren: Hayden Engel, Harris Engel, Caden Francisco, Bentley Francisco, Wesley Francisco, Zane Francisco, Scarlett Francisco, and Harper Prine.
The memory of Leonard S. Francisco will be honored with a visitation on April 4, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, followed by a funeral service from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, both taking place at Southview Baptist Church, located at 8015 Sterling Ave, Kansas City, MO 64138. A graveside service will follow at Longview Cemetery, 12700 SE Raytown Rd, Kansas City, MO 64149, from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
Leonard’s legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to inspire his family and friends, reminding them of the profound impact one individual's life can have on many.
