Mr. Leo Moore

Leo A. Moore was born on February 23, 1923 in Springfield, MO, and died on December 3rd, 2013 in Kansas City, MO at the age of 90. Mr. Moore was a WWII, U.S. Army veteran serving in the Pacific.

Mr. Moore moved to Kansas City, MO in 1948 and began his career in logistics and freight forwarding for a national chemical company. After forming his own international trading companies, he expanded into importing and exporting and became a certified IATA freight forwarder. In retirement, Mr. Moore worked several years as a real estate agent.

During his career, he was honored to serve on the Board of the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, elected President of the Traffic and Transportation Club, and elected President of the KC International Trade Club.

After moving to Raytown, MO, the Moore's attended Spring Valley Baptist Church for over 40 years, where Leo taught Sunday School and served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. He was also active in the Gideon Society.

Mr. Moore was preceded in death by Hazel Moore, his wife of 63 years, and two sisters, Mary Moore and Dorothy Maples. He is survived by a sister, Doris Sweeney, a daughter, Lyn Marie Wood of Kansas City, son-in- law Hal Wood, grandchildren Tiffany Wood Harris, Grant Wood, Gavin Wood, and six great grandchildren, Benjamin, Daniel, and Annika Harris, Audrey and Liam Wood, and Ethan Wood.

Services for Mr. Moore will be held at the Longview Funeral Home on Monday, December 9th, 2013; visitation at 1:00 pm and service at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideon's International or the Baptist Children's Home. A special thanks and gratitude goes to the Sunflower House and Good Shepherd Hospice. (Arr.
