Larry Denton, born April 23, 1944, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, surrounded by family.
Larry lived a life full of adventure, hard work, and deep friendships. On July 7, 1984, he married the love of his life, Marge, and in that moment, gained not only a wife but an instant family of six children — a role he embraced wholeheartedly. His family continued to grow, blessing him with 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. Larry’s pride in his family was unwavering, and he cherished them all.
Over the years, Larry also shared his life with several amazing dogs, each one special to him. He leaves behind his most loyal companion, Blue, his truest friend and faithful sidekick.
Known affectionately as a true MacGyver, Larry had an incredible knack for tinkering and could fix just about anything with wire and duct tape. He was ornery in the best way, with a love for practical jokes that kept those around him smiling. Whether he was golfing, camping, or enjoying good barbecue, Larry knew how to have fun — but his biggest passion was fishing. He took many trips to Canada, where he spent a week at a time canoeing, camping, and fishing, living off the land and creating cherished memories with friends and family.
Larry was the hardest-working man you could meet, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He believed in chasing goals and often shared invaluable life advice with his children and grandchildren. Never one to hold back, Larry spoke his mind freely, but his honesty was always rooted in love and a desire to see others succeed.
Larry is survived by his wife, Marjorie Denton, 6 children, their spouses, and 38 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They ask that you take some time to honor Larry’s memory by casting a line, hitting the golf course, or spending some time outdoors.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 and a funeral service at 10:30 AM Monday, March 17th at Longview Funeral Home and Cemetery, 12700 SE Raytown RD, Kansas City, MO. A reception will follow. Please join Larry’s family to share stories, laughs, and memories of Larry’s incredible life.
