Kenneth L. Ashcraft, a cherished family man and dedicated professional, passed away on April 17, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on April 1, 1945, in Kansas City, Kenneth led a life marked by commitment to both his career and his loved ones.
Kenneth’s journey began after he signed with the MLB's Kansas City Athletics in 1966, following his time playing baseball in the Ban Johnson League. This passion for sports continued throughout his life, particularly as he became an avid bowler and golfer. His playful spirit was evident in his enjoyment of tailgating and providing others the opportunity for friendly wagering; he rarely missed a Saturday “board meeting.”
In his professional life, Kenneth started working for Western Auto and Prudential before settling at Universal Engraving in 1977. It was there he devoted an impressive 35 years in sales.
Kenneth proudly served in the National Guard from 1967 to 1970, reflecting his commitment to his country and community. He was especially known for his compassionate nature, as he volunteered with "Step Up for Downs Syndrome" for six years, demonstrating his dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Verna Ashcraft, and their children: Kevin, Ryan (Aime), and Mike (Jessica) Ashcraft. Kenneth is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Emory, Edyn, Ryan Jr., Roman, Kinley, Dominick, and Jaxon; and his sister Janis Martel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Mary Ashcraft, and his brother-in-law, Bernie Martel.
