Joyce Eatherton

Joyce Ann Eatherton of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on November 24, 2022, due to natural causes.

Joyce was born on May 12, 1944, to William and Buella Linebach in Higginsville, Missouri. After Joyce graduated from Higginsville High School in 1962, she went on to study math education at the University of Missouri Columbia.

In 1967, she married her college sweetheart, Don Eatherton and started teaching middle school math in Missouri. Together, they spent a few years living in other parts of the country including Denver, Colorado and Yuma, Arizona. Returning to Missouri in 1972, Don and Joyce went on to have two children: William (Will) and Matthew (Matt).

Joyce taught math on and off for 35 years, during which time she also earned a master’s degree in secondary education. Joyce’s last and longest teaching role was at Harrisonville High School in Harrisonville, Missouri.

Among other things, Joyce enjoyed spending time with family, playing bridge, visiting with friends, going to shows, walking with Don and her dog Jake, actively participating in the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, and volunteering.

She is survived by her husband Don, children Matt and Will, daughters-in-law Melody and Michaelle, as well as five grandchildren Keegan, Bridget, Jack, Lily, and Sam. Her family and friends will greatly miss Joyce and treasure the many great years we had with her.

Services will be held at Longview Funeral Home and Cemetery at 12700 SE Raytown Rd, Kansas City Missouri, Visitation at 1pm, followed by funeral at 2pm on Monday, November 28, 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kansas City Hospice, a not-for-profit organization that strongly supported her and her family in the final days.
