Joseph Baumer

Joseph Leroy Baumer, 78, of Kansas City, MO passed away on July 26, 2021.

Joseph was born on August 10, 1942 in Fremont, OH. He served in the United States Navy and spent his career as a mechanic working for various companies in the Kansas City area. In his spare time, Joseph loved being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed sports and was an avid follower of sprint car racing and he never missed a Chiefs game, whether it was watching from home or standing out in the freezing cold until the very end. Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Limestahl and sister, Kathy. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 45years, Helen; sons, Patrick (Niki) Nelson and Gary (Jennifer) Ramsey; grandchildren, Amanda Nelson, Samantha (David) Kuenzler, Joshua Ramsey and Steven Ramsey; great grandchildren, Tayziah and Xzavier Wright; and sisters, Marlene Burgess, Sue Buhrow and Janice Weaver; and his nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Longview Funeral Home & Cemetery on Monday, August 2, 2021. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, with the funeral service at 11:00am, and burial following. In honor of Joe’s love for the Chiefs, the family requests that everyone wear their favorite Chiefs attire (or Buckeyes).
