In Loving Memory of Jane McTeer
November 4, 1946 – April 8, 2025
Jane McTeer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Shawnee, Kansas. Born on November 4, 1946, to Darcy and Doris McIntyre (Fisk), Jane lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She was married to the love of her life, Billy Joe McTeer, on March 3, 1967. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared 54 wonderful years of marriage before Bill's passing. Jane was a steadfast partner and a shining example of loyalty and love.
Jane was a dedicated Medical Transcriptionist, working for over 30 years at both Baptist Medical Center and St. Joseph Medical Center. Her work was precise and caring, much like how she approached every aspect of her life.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill, her parents Darcy and Doris, and her brothers Duane McIntyre and Ronnie McIntyre.
Jane is survived by her children Kristi Gribble (Jon), Taunja Balkcom (Geoff), and Todd McTeer; her cherished grandchildren Kati Gribble, Geoffrey Balkcom, Jacob Balkcom, Chloe McTeer, and Colin McTeer. She loved each of them deeply and took great pride in being a part of their lives. Her love also extended to many bonus children and grandchildren over the years — Jane had a heart big enough to be a mother anyone who needed one.
Jane had a quiet strength and a quick wit. She loved her soap operas — especially The Young and the Restless and General Hospital — and could recite plotlines with expert precision. In recent years, she found joy in sitcoms like Mike & Molly, and she never passed up a good show on the Food Network.
Her home was filled with warmth, good humor, and unconditional love. Whether through a home-cooked meal, a conversation, or simply her presence, Jane made people feel cared for.
Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will continue to live on through her family and all those lucky enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
