James L. Baskin left his earthly home on August 28, 2015 to join his loving wife and family in his heavenly home.
He was born on July 8, 1926 to Lizzie May Basham and James R. Baskin in Harmony, AR. He was the 6th of 7 children born to that union. James (sometimes called Jack or Jim) proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on LST 866.
On July 17, 1948, he married Emma Lou Smith. They had 3 children, Beverly (Mark), Larry (Erica), and Garry (Joyce) who will all miss him very much. He also had five granddaughters who love him very much: Erin (Scott) Robertson, Angela (Charlie) Homan, Emily (Wade) Michalsky, Brittany (Steffen) Hess and Baleigh Baskin. His blessings continue with five great-grandchildren: Destiny Fletcher, Kodie Hess, Cade and Ryleigh Robertson, and Emma Michalsky. His family was everything to him. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews.
He was a wonderful provider and worked very hard at Benson Mfg. Co. and KW Dart to take care of his family. We are all grateful for his sense of responsibility, his sense of humor and his love and guidance.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 1 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at Longview Funeral Home in Kansas City, MO. Graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm in Longview Cemetery.
