Ida Freeland

Ida Maria Freeland, 91, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on January 12, 2022. Ida is survived her son, Mark (Bonnie) Freeland and granddaughter, Stephanie Freeland who she was very close with. She was preceded in death by beloved husband of over 60 years Donald Freeland, her parents Andreas and Katharina Dahinden and sister Rosemary Dahinden.

Ida was a passionate and caring woman who loved her family and church. Ida was born in Zurich, Switzerland on January 13, 1930. Little did she know that in the early 50’s that she would be swept off her feet by an American service man on leave in her hometown, but that is what Don did, they fell in love and were married March 11, 1954. Ida was a beautician and continued her craft once they moved to the United States after marriage. Ida loved animals and being strong in her faith all through life. Ida will be missed by many and will forever be remembered for her faith and love for her family. Burial will be at Longview Cemetery Friday January 21, 2022. Arrangements in the care of Longview Funeral Home & Cemetery.
