Henry E. “Hank” Sprague, 88, of Kansas City, MO died at home on Saturday, October 29, 2016; he was born March 10, 1928, in Humansville, Missouri, to the late Nina and Fred Sprague.
Hank proudly served in the Airforce during WWII and Korea; he continued in the reserves until he completed 25 years of service. He worked as an inspector for TWA for 27 years, was a member of the Ararat Shrine- Mini Model T’s- A&H Scottish Rite, Elks Lodge #26, and was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. His family remembers him as a hardworking and very loving dad, who taught them what really matters in life is family. He often would say, “I don’t need anything, God gave me Frances and she gave me my children; I don’t need anything else.”
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Frances; sons: Larry (Patricia) Sprague and Gary (Teresa) Sprague; daughter, Sharon (Daryl) Covey; grandchildren: Rebecca Sprague, Tracy (Douglas) Riley, Michael and David Covey; and great-grandson, Jason Covey.
In addition to his parents, Henry is preceded in death by his son, Michael H. Sprague.
Service will be Friday, November 4, 2016, at 1 PM; visitation will begin at 12 PM at Longview Funeral Home 12700 S. Raytown Rd. Kansas City, MO. Interment with military honors will follow at Longview Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607.
