Helen Kramer Cook passed away on January 18, 2007. She was born January 30, 1914 in Maryville, MO, the second of two daughters by Mr. and Mrs. Howard W. Kramer. She attended Maryville, MO primary and secondary schools and in 1938, was graduated from The University of Missouri School of Journalism. Helen married W. Wallace Cook and lived most of her life in Kansas City. Her husband preceded her in death. Following her graduation in 1938, she was an advertising copywriter for a Kansas City department store. Later she became publicity director of what was then Northwest Missouri State College at Maryville, MO. Helen was an independent author and a frequent contributor of feature articles to the Kansas City Star and other metropolitan newspapers. She has written for radio and television. In 1977, she co-authored 'Maverick With a Paintbrush', a biography of Missouri artist Thomas Hart Benton. Helen leaves two cousins, Dorothy Stewart, Gladstone, MO and Lloyd Kramer, Twain Harte, CA. She also leaves nephews Howard E. Myers, Pompton Plains, NJ, George R. Myers, Hilton Head Isl., SC, great nieces Kirsten Myers, Kansas City, MO, Carolyn Myers, Aliso Viejo, CA, great nephew Raymond Myers, Chester Springs, PA, and many devoted friends. Cremation with scattering of ashes. Memorial Service will be Saturday, April 7 at 9:30 a.m., at D.W. Newcomer's Longview Funeral Home. The family requests no flowers.
