Harold Austin Hewitt, passed into the loving arms of his savior on 10 May 2019. Reunited with Rita, his wife of 70 years, together they stroll heaven’s garden basking in the glory of god and being together again. Harold was born 13 August 1922 in Milford, Nebraska. The son of George S and Matilda (Raitt) Hewitt, he was the youngest of seven children. Harold served in the Navy during World War II, receiving the Purple heart for injuries sustained during a Kamikaze attack. Harold was forever married to Rita Mae Crozier in February 1946. He spent 33 years as an engineer with Bell Systems traveling extensively in support of establishing worldwide communications networks. Harold and Rita were avid card players, enjoying evenings sharing their skills with friends and family.
A Devote Christian, Harold studied the bible sharing his faith with those around him and challenging them to become scholars of the word. Harold was specifically interested in prophesy, devoting many hours to understanding bible prophesy and current world events. Harold looked forward with great pleasure to a time when he could discuss Revelations with his creator.
Harold is survived by his three children: Nancy Marie Raines, of Soldier, Kansas; Stephen Ray Hewitt, of Harrisonville, Missouri; and Susan Kay Stevens of Leavenworth, Kansas; five grandchildren: Jacob Raines, Mike and Tim Hewitt, and Melissa and Daniel Stevens; and four great-grandchildren: Rebecca and Alexander Raines; and Eli and Noah Hewitt.
Visitation will begin at 10am, Funeral Service at 11am on Wednesday, 15 May 2019 at Longview Funeral home, 12700 Southeast Raytown Rd, Kansas City Missouri. Immediately followed by a graveside service in the same location.
