Mr. Harlie Eichhorn

Harlie F. ?Slim? Eichhorn, 87, Grandview, MO passed away on October 18, 2008 at St. Joseph Medical Center.
Harlie was born July 2, 1921 in Gravette, AR. He was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII from 1941-1945. Harlie organized reunions across the country gathering together the Army buddies from his 850th Aviation Engineer Battalion. Harlie met his wife, Maxine in Bonner Springs, KS where she lived. They were married on May 9, 1942, a union that lasted over 66 years. Harlie retired as Vice President of maintenance from Jefferson Bus Lines after 43 years of service. He was a member of the Coronation of Our Lady Catholic Church since 1958, member of the Grandview VFW Post 8100 and the Grandview Elks Lodge. Harlie and his wife traveled during the winter in their RV for a number of years after his retirement. They also had a second home at the Lake of the Ozarks for over 20 years. Harlie also enjoyed spending his free time fishing, gardening, wood working, collecting tools and antiques. The last few years they spent enjoying the comforts of their home of 51 years. Harlie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed by many.
Harlie is preceded in death by his father Henry Eichhorn and mother Gertrude Roughton and sister Nadine Roughton. He is survived by his wife, Maxine of the home; a son, Ronald Eichhorn and wife Lyn of Kansas City, MO; daughter Carolyn Crews Pope and husband Philip of the Village of Loch Lloyd, MO; granddaughter Stacey Stauch and husband Jeremie of Raymore, MO; grandson Ryan Eichhorn and wife Keri of Belton, MO; also survived by one sister, Margie Pitts of Springfield, MO.
