Geraldine Zirbel
Geraldine "Gerry" Zirbel, age 84, resident of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Kansas City Hospice House.
Geraldine was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 5, 1928. She graduated from Ruskin High School and Kansas University with a teaching degree. Over the years she taught at Wichita, Kansas City, Center and Grandview school districts. She was a member of NEA and Retired Teachers Organization.
She was preceded in death by her husband Larry Zirbel and son James Clark.
Geraldine is survived by her brother Tom and Shirley McGee of Richardson, Texas; son Jerry and wife Glenda Clark of Lee's Summit, Missouri; stepdaughters Jeanie and husband Joe Harnett of Dallas, Texas and Trish and husband Dan Bryan of Kansas City, Missouri; stepson Roger and wife Vickie Zirbel of Shawnee, Kansas

She was the loving grandmother of six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Geraldine had supporting and loving friends and neighbors.
Memorial service will be held Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. with visitation 6:30 -7:00 at DW Newcomer's Sons, Longview Funeral Home, 12700 South Raytown Road, Kansas City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donation appreciated to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114 or Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box 96280, Washington, DC 20078-7491 or to a charity of your choice.
