Gary was born to Orville and Helen Sien on July 24, 1960 in Lebanon, Missouri. He grew up in Lebanon, Missouri graduating from Lebanon High School in 1979. Shortly after high school he rekindled a spark with his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Nancy McMilian. Gary and Nancy began a lifetime of incredible adventures together when they married on May 28, 1983. They were blessed with two amazing children who Gary loved being a father to Zachary, Trisha and god daughter Riley Bartel.
Gary loved the outdoors that brought on a passion for camping and Harley motorcycles. Gary took many opportunities to experience the love and bucket list adventure of attending Sturgis. With all the adventures he enjoyed camping the most with his family in fact in the last week of his life he was vacationing at Lake Okoboji in Iowa with his Nancy and his children. When Gary wasn’t camping you could find him riding around on his golf cart with his fur baby Oswald. They were hooked at the hip, when he was lucky enough, he would get the all the dogs as well Riley, Snickers and Trixie. Gary loved his dogs and taking them around with him or just cuddling on the couch.
Gary filled everyone’s lives with memories, life lessons and happiness. Everyone ran to the house anytime he made his famous potato salad. He loved watching Bob Ross videos and drinking a Diet Mountain Dew. He loved eating Reece’s peanut butter cups with the children from the daycare Nancy used to have in the home he loved assisting with activities and projects with the Children it just made his day. Gary was a big kid himself his love for Christmas as a child grew into the largest collection of Christmas Village Décor. It took weeks to build his Village every Christmas. Friends from the community looked forward to the completion of the Village so they could come and enjoy the Christmas spirit provided by the Sien family. As everyone around him knows, Gary’s greatest legacy is the impact he made on the people around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Helen Sien; sister, Donna Luthy and Daughter Ruth Virginia Sien. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Sien; children: Zachary Sien and his wife Maura Sien and Trisha Sien and god daughter Riley Bartel. He will be greatly missed by many other family and friends.
