Gary D. Hindman

January 16, 1940 - April 2, 2025

Gary D. Hindman, 85, of Watson, MO, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospice House. Born on January 16, 1940, to Florence Dunkle Hindman and R. Wayne Hindman, Gary lived a rich and adventurous life marked by scholarly achievement, family dedication, and boundless enthusiasm.

For almost 50 years, Gary shared a remarkable love story with his wife, Joanne Williams Hindman. Their passion for each other was unmatched, creating a foundation of love that inspired all who knew them.

Gary earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry and built a distinguished career in animal pharmaceuticals, retiring from Beckloff Associates (now known as Cardinal Health) after many years of service.

A man with a true zest for life, Gary embraced adventure in all its forms. He was an avid Harley rider who embarked on memorable trips with friends that took him as far as Alaska and Canada. For over 20 years, he was a dedicated Kansas City Chiefs fan, holding season tickets and becoming known for his spirited tailgating.

Gary's passions extended to many areas—he loved dancing, camping, and expressing himself through watercolor and acrylic painting. Above all, he cherished time spent with his beloved family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Florence and R. Wayne Hindman. Gary leaves behind his loving wife Joanne, and a loving family including his children: Jennifer Hindman Reilly (with grandchildren Emily and Liam); Gregory Hindman and wife Shannon (with granddaughters Maya Painter, Ava, and Reece); Daniel Hindman; and Mark Hindman and wife Amanda (with grandson Brooks). Additionally, he was a devoted stepfather to Carolyn Speer (John Schmidt and Tommy Schmidt with wife Amber, and great-granddaughters Amelia and Annabelle Schmidt).

Gary's celebration of life will be held on April 11th at 2 pm at Longview Funeral Home and Cemetery. His unmatched passion for life and adventurous spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.
