Florence Rose Kilmer, 100, of Grandview, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2021. Florence was born in Lorain, Ohio to the loving home of John and Rose Pawlak on November 9, 1921; she was one of nine children.
She graduated from Lorain High School in 1940 and worked at several jobs before joining the Army Air Corps. She met Al Kilmer, an aviation cadet, and they were married after he returned from Germany where he was a prisoner of war.
They moved to Grandview, Missouri in 1971. Florence would work at the IRS while attending Longview and Penn Valley Community Colleges. She would go on to work as an election judge for 8 years. Florence was a member of Coronation of Our Lady Catholic Church, where Florence served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered for many church fundraisers. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Florence is preceded in death by her husband Al of 58 years, sons Anthony and Timothy, her parents John Pawlak and Rose (Matuszak) Pawlak as well as 5 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Whiting of Tucson, AZ., sons Paul Kilmer of Grandview, MO., Joseph (Karen) Kilmer of Lawson, MO., and Kenneth (Dorothy) Kilmer of Independence, MO., daughter-in-law Linda Kilmer of Eden GA, five grandchildren Dave, Matthew, Lori, Kevin, and Rachel and 3 great grandchildren Kayla, Cameron, and Lucille. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Services for Florence will be Monday December 13, 2021, at Coronation of Our Lady Catholic Church in Grandview, Missouri. Visitation & Rosary will begin at 11 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Interment will take place in Amherst, Ohio on Friday December 17, 2021, at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
