Ella Mae Banker

January 28, 1933 — March 13, 2024

Grandview

Ella Mae Banker, 91, of Grandview, Missouri, passed away peacefully on March 13th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 28th, 1933, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Ella Mae's journey was one marked by vibrant experiences and cherished moments.

After graduating from the University of Tennessee in 1955, Ella Mae embarked on a beautiful chapter of her life. On May 26th, 1958, she married the love of her life, that spanned 65 years. As a paralegal for over four decades, Ella Mae exemplified dedication and professionalism in her career.

Outside of work, Ella Mae found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She adored shopping, especially for the latest shoes and accessories, and cherished the camaraderie of her friends in the Red Hat Society and American Businesswomen’s Association.

In her younger years, Ella Mae embraced adventure, whether it was through her participation in bowling leagues, ballroom dancing, or her passion for travel with her husband. Despite her love for exploration, she held a special place in her heart for her Tennessee roots and treasured visits back "home."

Above all, Ella Mae was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her daughter was the center of her world, and she took immense delight in her granddaughters and newest addition, her great-granddaughter.

Ella Mae will forever be remembered for her steadfast spirit, quick wit, and infectious sass. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will echo through the hearts of those who knew her.

Ella Mae was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and her beloved husband. She is survived by her only daughter, April L. Lassiter (David), two granddaughters Ashley L. Bowlus (Aaron), Madison G. Rushin (Ryan) and one great granddaughter Arabella M. Bowlus.
