Edward D. Steagall, 86, of Independence, Missouri passed away peacefully at the Missouri Veterans
Home in Warrensburg, Missouri on April 27, 2023. Edward was born 1 of 5 children in Olive Hill,
Kentucky on October 25, 1936, to Samuel and Nellie Steagall. Edward enlisted into the United States Air
Force and he would graduate from Grandview High School in 1959. During his time in the service he met,
Who would become the love of his life, Marie Johnson. They both served time working with the military
during the Korean Conflict. Edward completed 4 years of active duty service. Edward and Marie would
marry and were blessed with two sons, Rick and Randy. Edward and Marie have been married for 66
amazing years. Edward was a family man and he was very active in his childrens’ lives from being a scout
leader in boy scouts to coaching baseball. He loved his family and enjoyed being a grandfather even
more. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, taking walks, and playing with his grandkids around the house.
Edward and Marie have been members of Sycamore Hills Baptist Church since 1967. Edward never
met a stranger and he could talk to anyone, making them feel special and cared for. He finished his
professional career with AGCO in 1994, he faithfully worked with the company for over 30 years. Edward
was a great man that will be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his Parents Samuel
D. Steagall, and Nellie (Bowling) Steagall. Siblings Bill Stegall, Veronice Reynolds, Shirley McCoy, and
Sam Steagall. Two granddaughters Kelsey Steagall and Mackenzie Steagall. He is survived by his wife
Marie (Johnson) Steagall. Sons Rick and Randy Steagall. Grandchildren Matt Steagall, Crystal Steagall,
and Blake Steagall, and a great granddaughter Aspen Steagall. He will be truly missed by many nieces,
nephews, and friends. The family would like to say a special thank you to the Missouri Veterans Home
for providing such special care to Edward and the family over the past 7 years.
Funeral services will be held at Sycamore Baptist Church in Independence, MO. Visitation will be held at
10am Saturday, May 6th with funeral services to directly follow at 11am.
