In the loving memory of Dorothy Lee Coovert
Dorothy Lee Coovert, a remarkable soul who graced this world on April 17, 1939, in the serene town of Warsaw, Illinois, transitioned peacefully surrounded by her adoring family on June 7, 2024, at the St. Joseph Medical Center. She was a wife to Jack J. Coovert from November 30, 1957, till his passing in 1991, and cherished daughter of Vernon W. Groves and Dorothy L. Groves. Dorothy's presence in the world was a beacon of kindness and warmth that touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Dorothy embarked on her professional journey in December 1991 at Crittenton Children's Center's Office Administration department, dedicatedly tending to medical records with precision and care. Her commitment and work ethic were truly commendable, leaving an indelible mark on all those she worked with.
A woman of deep familial devotion, Dorothy's pride lay in her nurturing role as a mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. She exuded a rare blend of kindness and hospitality that made everyone feel valued and welcomed in her presence. Her family was her universe, and she found joy and fulfillment in being an integral part of their lives.
Among Dorothy's proudest accomplishments was her selfless service to Grace Point Baptist Church, where she volunteered tirelessly across various roles, including children and adult bible school activities and organizing funeral dinners. Additionally, she dedicated herself to volunteering for MS Society events in the Kansas City Metro area, embodying compassion, and empathy in all her endeavors.
Dorothy's memory will be forever cherished by her children Jack E. Coovert (Casey), Connie J. Hagemann (John), Sherri L. Coovert, Thomas Allen Coovert (Susan), and David W. Coovert (Yvette). She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Anthony Coovert, Carissa Thompson, Charles McCormick, Cody Coovert, Eric Coovert, Haley Amador, Holly Dechant, Jake Garrett, John Wesley Coovert, Kaylee Coovert, Kelly Garrett, Ryan Coovert, Sarah Hagemann, Thomas Allan Coovert II, Travis Garrett, and Zachary Coovert, along with 16 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived in the hearts of Dorothy's surviving sisters Mary Ann, Ida, Helen, and Alice. She also leaves behind many other loving family members and friends who were touched by her unwavering love and kindness including Amy Bourn and Steve along with Kelsie.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack J. Coovert, Her parents Vernon and Dorothy Groves, granddaughter Autumn M. McCormick, brothers Oron, Richard (Dick), William, Walter (Frank), Joseph (Joe), and her sister Helen.
A celebration of Dorothy Lee Coovert's life will be held at Longview Funeral Home located at 12700 SE Raytown Rd in Kansas City on Wednesday, June 12th starting with visitation at 1:00 PM followed by Funeral Service at 2:00 PM before proceeding to Longview Cemetery for burial at 3:00 PM. Following the services the family invites everyone to attend a luncheon in her honor at the St. Sabina Church Gym, 700 Trevis Ave, Belton MO 64012 to continue to share memories and fellowship.
