Dawn Segalo, 68, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on August 22, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Dawn was born on March 24, 1953, in Wichita Falls, Texas to the loving home of H. Lawrence Hedmark and Berenice “Mandernack” Hedmark.
Later Dawn’s family moved to Bloomington, Illinois where she graduated from Bloomington High School in 1971. Dawn went on to get her BS degree in Psychology from DePauw University. She continued her educational adventure receiving her master’s degree from Iowa State University in Industrial Relations.
After she completed her education, she ended up in the Philadelphia area where she went to church with friends & met the love of her life A. Michael Segalo and married him 11 months later in the same church they met on September 15, 1979. Dawn’s friends knew it was love at first sight just by looking at the way Michael looked at her, he was a goner from that moment.
They moved to Kansas City in 1985 and raised their five children Michael, Susan, Christina, Daniel, and Andrew. Dawn quit working in the corporate world and was a stay-at-home mom for 21 years. She was all about her family attending all their activities and even homeschooling all her children at some point during that time. She wasn’t a fan of baseball but learned to love it because, her kids loved to play, and she was all about loving what her kids were involved in.
She was a devoted Wife, Mother, and believer in Christ. She had a very strong faith that she shared with her entire family.
Dawn loved the holidays and spending time with family and friends, she was always involved where she was needed. She loved to read and watch old movies. Dawn was an amazing pianist and sang in the messiah Choir for 11 years. Dawn loved to sew and work in her garden. Dawn was a kind and caring soul.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents H. Lawrence Hedmark and Berenice “Mandernack” Hedmark.
She is survived by her husband A. Michael Segalo, Son Michael (Amber) Segalo, Daughter Susan (Blake) Segalo, Daughter Christina (Andrew) Neill, Daniel (McCartney) Segalo, and Son Andrew Segalo. Grandchildren Sophia, Augustino, Harvey, and Selah. Sister Nancy (Steve) Loy and brother-in-law James (Florann) Scarduzio. Dawn will be missed by many other Nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services for Dawn will be Friday August 27, 2021 visitation at 1pm followed by Funeral and Graveside all taking place at Longview Funeral Home & Cemetery- 12700 SE Raytown Road, Kansas City Missouri, 64149.
