Mr. Dakota Kremeier

On a warm summer day, when he should have had a fishing pole in his hand, Dakota Iryl Kremeier, 17, Grain Valley, MO, passed away. Born November 7, 1991 to Larry and Nancy Kremeier, Dakota immediately lived up to his name, an Indian word meaning “Friend”. He was a great camping buddy, teammate, fisherman and hunter, nabbing his first 9-point buck at age 11. Whether wearing cleats or cowboy boots- the boy had big, stinky feet! Those shoes will be impossible to fill! He was an avid fisherman and knew you could catch just about anything with a hot dog and a hook. Dakota could fix everything on his truck and build anything from a winning pine wood derby car to a tree house. Summers were spent at the Lake of the Ozarks or Blue Springs Lake, back flipping off the back of the wave runner and enjoying family and friends. He worked at Lake Jacomo Marina and Longview Golf Course, never shying away from a hard day’s work. He was happiest breaking a sweat, either on the football field or digging a ditch, accomplishing that boy/man stench only a mother could appreciate. Dakota was so ornery! He took great pride in teasing his sister, Tanner, but was also the first to call and make sure she was OK if she was having a rough day. He loved tuna casserole and frozen zebra cakes. He hated vegetables and wearing dress clothes. He was incredibly smart with numbers and writing. And what an artist! He aspired to attend University of Central Missouri and looked forward to a future in criminal justice.
Dakota will be watching over his parents, Nancy and Larry Kremeier, his sister, Tanner and brother, Grayson, his Grandparents, Paula and Warren Kremeier, Dottie Scott, Richard Pickren Sr., “Grandpa Bud” Turner, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and extended family. Dakota’s was a life unfinished. He has left it to all of us to live each day as a tribute to the man he was becoming and the future he should be living. Please make memorial contributions to Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation. In remembrance of Dakota and his giving spirit, please sign your organ donor card.

Visitation will be at D.W. Newcomer’s Longview Funeral Home, Tuesday, August 25, 2009 from 6-9 PM.
Funeral Mass will be 10AM, Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Coronation of Our Lady Catholic Church- Grandview, Missouri. Burial to follow at Longview Cemetery
