COLVIN A. PETERSON
Colvin A. “Pete” Peterson, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, died on April 9, 2009. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at John Knox Village on April 14, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. Private committal service for the family will follow. The family requests no flowers and suggests memorial donations be made to the Harry S. Truman Library, 500 West U.S. Highway 24, Independence, MO 64050.
Mr. Peterson was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on November 12, 1924. He graduated from Miami University (Ohio) in 1949 and from the University of Michigan Law School in 1950. After law school, Mr. Peterson moved to Kansas City and joined the law firm of Watson, Ess, Whittaker, Marshall & Enggas. He retired from the active practice of law in 1992. In his retirement he enjoyed being a docent at the Truman Library. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed in the Marshall Islands. Surviving Mr. Peterson are his wife, Marjorie, and his children Nancy Howland (John) of Marietta, GA, and Patricia Fielder (Mike) of Overland Park, KS. Other survivors include four grandchildren: David Howland, Anna Howland Hawkins, Patrick Fielder and Allison Fielder; and three siblings: Bill Peterson, Nancy Johnson and Fred Peterson.
