Christopher Thompson

January 7, 1983 — August 22, 2017

Christopher Edward Thompson, 34, of Lee's Summit, MO passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017.
Christopher was born on January 7, 1983 to Mark and Julianne Thompson in Kansas City, Kansas. Chris had friends and a loving family and did exciting things in beautiful places. The farm and the White River won't be the same without you.  He was raised by his father with a love for Notre Dame Football, and was rarely ever seen without his Notre Dame hat.  As a child, Chris and his mom were inseparable, her love for him was profound.  We'll always remember the best of times with Chris. He was a great son, grandson, cousin, and friend and more like a brother to some. He could do anything in the woods and the rivers, kicking through the thickest brush and shooting straight and drinking hard and building the hottest fires. Adventures were made where ever Chris went. He put down Republicans and Nazis with humor and thrown drinks and had goofy phrases like throwing acorns at battleships. His laugh was legendary around campfires and nights out. Chris was as complicated and unique as any artist could be with tying his beautiful flies. He fly fished and partied hard and took care of people when they were sick. He hated school and yet gave every effort to stay informed and well read on politics and history. Chris was tough and crazy brave and for some reason spooked by owls, leaving the dark woods for shelter in his room. Listening to Johnny Cash while he drank and grilled for hours under a hot sun is how he will be remembered by some and wrestling with his grandpa and wading through a cold river by others.  Out of all the possibilities for existence Chris was here and we are all glad, and will always be glad.   Everyone misses you and hopes you have found your peace. See you when we get there. Build the fire high so we can find you.
