On Monday, March 9, 2020, Christopher Bryan Schrankler, loving father, son, brother, and grandson, passed away at the age of 30.
Chris was born on January 5, 1990, in Blue Springs, MO. He grew up in Lee’s Summit and was raised in the church. When he was 12 years old, he was baptized at First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit after professing his faith in Jesus Christ.
He graduated from Lee’s Summit High School. During his high school years, he developed his debate skills in The National Forensic League, was an active member of The National Honor Society, and pursuing his love of journalism, became the Head Line Editor for Tiger Broadcast Journalism.
Chris was an avid soccer player on both high school and club teams. Chris’ affection for his club team, Impulse, grew to where he considered them a second family. In many ways they were, as his father was their coach for the majority of his soccer career. His love of soccer was not only as a player, but also as coach and referee. He was always happiest when he was on a soccer field.
Later in life, his love was transformed with the birth of his daughter Addilynn (6) and his son CJ (3). Chris cherished his children, spending his free time taking the kids to the zoo, local playgrounds, or to get special treats.
Chris’ career took several avenues, including Buffalo Wild Wings throughout high school and then later jobs at Waddell and Reed, Dine Equity, and until his passing, BioLife. Chris’ good nature, friendly personality, and warmth equipped him as an excellent customer service representative.
In the last several years, Chris’ passion for music evolved into singing and song writing. He found that the reservoir of feelings that welled up inside of him could best be expressed through the lyrics of the songs that he created.
Chris is survived by his parents, James and Debbie Buchanan of Lee’s Summit, MO, his brothers, Craig Schrankler and his fiancé Salem Terrien and their daughter Serenity, Corey Buchanan of Lee’s Summit, MO, his sister Courtney and husband Matthew Margritier of Overland Park, KS, his son CJ Schrankler and his daughter Addilynn Schrankler of Lee’s Summit, MO, his grandparents Dorcas Lyons of Independence, MO, and James and Cindy Buchanan of Lee’s Summit, MO, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that he also called family.
