William Bradway (Brad) Patten, 77 of Raymore, MO. passed away Wed. August 4, 2010. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Sat. August 7th at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church (1111 West Foxwood Drive
Raymore, MO 64083) family to receive friends one hour prior to services. Burial in Longview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8:00pm with a Masonic service beginning at 7pm, Friday, August 6th at Newcomer’s Longview Funeral Home. Brad was born March 25, 1933 in Riverside, CA to James W. and Ernestine L. (Fleischer) Patten. He graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University, SD in 1959 with a BA degree in accounting. Brad married Lois Jean Price in Hitchcock, SD on June 18, 1961. They lived in the Fargo, ND area from 1960 thru 1966 and moved to the Missouri and Kansas City area in 1967. Brad retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 1993 with 33 years of service as Tax Examiner Classifier. He served in the Korean Campaign and was a veteran of the US Navy. He served many years as a Tax Aide for AARP and was a volunteer for FSTV the television station at Foxwood Springs. Brad was a lifelong model railroader who never lost his fascination of trains, particularly the steam locomotive. Brad was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Raymore, MO. Previously with St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Kansas City where he served as Payroll Treasurer for many years and a member of Wesley class. His memberships included Swope Park Lodge No. 617, Swope Park Chapter 520 Order of the Eastern Star, Past Patron and also served many years as Treasurer. Brad was a life member of National Model Railroaders Association, as well as, a member of Society of Model Engineer of Kansas City, National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), National Railroad Historical Society and Independent Order of Foresters. Brad was preceded in death by his parents James and Ernestine Patten, brothers Darryl Patten, David Patten and Jon Patten; sisters Lois Marie Patten and Charlotte Patten Burdette, grandson Gilbert Adam White. He is survived by his wife Lois Jean Patten, Daughter Vicki Jean White (Gilbert Alan) of Raytown, MO., son Richard Bradway Patten of Kansas City, MO., grandchildren Kristi White Middleton (James), April White Ducy (Richard), great grandchildren: Jonothan Hayes, Marcus Middleton, Samantha Hayes, Serena Middleton, Calista Prill, Elizabeth Ducy and Adrianna Ducy.
