Boyd William Ferguson, 93, passed away at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Cameron, MO on February 23, 2020.
Boyd was born on November 18, 1926 in Jameson, MO to George and Lois (Troxel) Ferguson. After high school, Boyd enlisted in the United States Army where he served two years in Japan during WWII as a military police officer. During his time in the military he received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, and WWII Victory Medal. On January 14, 1948, Boyd married Norma Lee Yates and from this marriage they had three children. They spent over 53 years together. Boyd enjoyed working and teaching others how to work on cars. He even owned and operated an auto body shop and taught at a vocational school. He also had a successful career as a Shelter insurance claim adjuster, later being promoted to a claim’s manager. He worked for the company for over 30 years. After his wife, Norma passed away he found friendship and love again with Doris Kesler and the two were married in 2002. Throughout his life, Boyd was a devout Christian and exemplified the importance of being a hard worker, faithful Christian, and wonderful husband and father. In his spare time, he enjoyed cars, fishing, and creating stained glass master pieces. Boyd is preceded in death by his parents; wives, Norma and Doris; and sister, Illah Logston. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his children, Jerry Ferguson and companion Francey Whitwell, Joyce Duncan and husband Glen, and Neal Ferguson and companion Amy Humphries; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Longview Funeral Home & Cemetery on Friday, February 28th, with visitation from 9:30am to 11:00am, with funeral and burial following. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Missouri Veteran’s Home – Veteran’s Assistance League in Cameron, MO
